“Heaven’s Gates, Hell’s Flames”
was Presented nightly at

Harvest Church

It resulted in the salvation of approximately 85-90 souls who came to see the production and were moved by the events that unfolded before their eyes to give their lives to Jesus when an altar call was given at the end of the presentation. In one case members of 3 generations of a single family gave their lives to the Lord.

A ten year old girl who accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior after “Heavens’ Gates, Hell’s Flames” led two of her classmates at school to the Lord within the week following her salvation.

“Heaven’s Gates, Hell’s Flames” is a real life dramatic production you will never forget. It has been presented in numerous churches throughout this country and many souls have been saved at these presentations. Thousands have accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord as a result of seeing this Christian drama. When “Heaven’s Gates, Hell’s Flames” was presented at Calvary Temple in Modesto, California a couple of years ago, more than 30,000 souls were saved in a period of 7 weeks (28 performances). Gang bangers, 4 generations of one family, and drug addicts were among those saved at the “Miracle in Modesto”.

Taiwanese Student’s Mother Healed of Cancer Twice

In May 1998, a student from Taiwan received word that his mother had been found to have a very serious cancer and was to go into the hospital for surgery within a week. Pastor Jon prayed with him and the student began fasting and praying and scheduled a flight home. He continued fasting and praying and when he arrived home and his mother entered the hospital for surgery which showed that the cancer was no longer present and the tests which had been clearly positive a week earlier were negative. The surgery was cancelled. The doctors were very puzzled as to how the cancer had disappeared.

The student explained to his Buddhist family that his mother had been healed by prayer and fasting but they were unable to accept this explanation and tried to somehow attribute it to Buddha.

Recently, the student returned to the U.S. for the first time since his mother’s cancer scare. Within two weeks of his return here, he received a call from an aunt that his mother had again been diagnosed as having cancer which required surgery as soon as possible. Again, Pastor Jon prayed with him for his mother’s healing and he began fasting and praying. He had intended to fly home on Tuesday, August 17th but was unable to get a reservation for a flight to Taiwan that day. So he had to settle for a flight on Wednesday, the 18th. The night of the 17th, his uncle called to tell him that he did not need to come home because when his mother was rechecked prior to admission to the hospital the exam was entirely normal. The laboratory tests were rechecked and they were also normal. The doctor was quite confused about what was happening. The family was blaming the doctor for getting the diagnosis wrong twice because they weren’t able to recognize the power and work of God!! It will be interesting to see how they respond to further explanation that the power of God brought to bear through prayer and fasting had been the cause of the mother’s second miraculous healing from cancer. Somebody Shout “Hallelujah!!”

8 Year Old Boy Slain in the Spirit And
Baptized in the Spirit the Same Morning!

Sunday, November 30th is a day one 8 year old boy will long remember. He had never been to church until his aunt brought him to church that Sunday. When Pastor Jon called on those who needed prayer to come forward, his aunt brought him forward for prayer. So many people came forward that Pastors Jon and Debbie started at one end of the line and Pastors Joel and Penny started at the other end and worked toward the middle. When Pastor Joel got to the boy, the aunt told Pastor Joel that the boy had never been to church before so Pastor Joel took time to briefly explain to him about Jesus, the gospel and salvation and asked the boy if he wanted to ask Jesus into his life. When the boy said “yes”. Pastor Joel led him in the “sinner’s prayer”. Then he asked him if he would like to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the boy again said “yes”. When Pastor Joel laid hands on him and prayed for him the boy fell under the power of the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues. It was quite a while before the boy was able to get up off the floor. Afterwards he told his aunt that when Pastor Joel prayed over him it felt like some thing hit him in the stomach. It didn’t hurt but did knock him down. He said that he asked Jesus into his life but he didn’t expect Him to knock him down. He also said that while he was laying on the floor “out” in the Spirit, Jesus spoke to him and told him three things: 1) he was to study the Bible; 2) to be good; and 3) He would prosper him.

Chinese Students Encounter the Holy Spirit!

Two Chinese students who were husband and wife had a salvation experience with the Holy Spirit. The wife had arrived in the U.S. in 1997 and had attended one of our Revival Meetings. At that time the student saw people falling under the power of the Holy Spirit. The student was curious about this so she went forward for prayer. On receiving prayer, she experienced falling under the power of the Holy Spirit. Information about this experience was shared with her husband when he arrived at the University more recently and they had numerous discussions about it. The second student was also very interested in knowing about and experiencing this wonderful move of God. When they were invited to come to Harvest Church for the Sunday, December 27, 1998 service, they were eager to come and learn more about this phenomenon. The gospel was shared with them at dinner a few days beforehand.

When the Pastor invited everyone who needed or wanted prayer to come forward, they both did so. They have written their individual accounts of what they experienced and those follow (the syntax and spelling are as they wrote the accounts). They have both accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. Both have received the baptism in the Holy Spirit. They have Chinese-English Bibles and have participated in Bible Study and are joyful at their new-found relationship with the Lord.

Student 1: “Before I repeated what the pastor said, I spoke silently to myself “If God exists in the world can you let me know that you really exist through some cases which will not happen usually and naturally?” In addition I doubted that I would fall down as others did.

However, after I repeated what pastor said, I felt huge strength came to me suddenly. I fell down. I told myself that God really exist. I felt fire before my eyes when I was laying on the floor. Later, I wanted to open my eyes and stand up. But I could not do both of them. I could hear clearly what others said to me. For example, (my friend) said, ‘Relax, don't disobey the strength of God.’ After a while, I stood up and went back to my seat. I was so excited that I stumbled. God really exists.”

Student 2: “The pastor held my hands and let me repeat what he said. After I repeated several sentences, I felt a very powerful external force came into my forehead through the pastor probably. I fell down suddenly since I had no energy to stay any more. I lied on the ground with my eyes closing and truly hoping God can come into my heart if God exists. I just thought about that and even I did not think other things. Then the pastor asked me to repeat what I heard. So I concentrated all my attention to hear clearly. Yeh, I heard many, many voices which made me feel very good, like a lot of people were talking to me, but the voices were too low to be recognized. I told the pastor very happily that there were lots of low voices around my ears and brains. I wondered very much what those people talked to me and I thought in my mind continuously, ‘Let me know, let me hear clearly, please louder, please louder.’ How eager I wanted to know those miracle voices! Later, it really occurred a very louder man’s voice, clearly. Because he said in one kind of dialect, different from English and Chinese. I could not tell what he said. When the pastor let me repeat, then the man's voice occurred again. I repeated the first sentence for there were a few words in it. The second sentence he said to me was longer. Since it was too long for me to repeat, I only repeated a few words. Then, my intuition recovered normally. I had energy to stand up. I recalled these beautiful voices around me and felt so happy because they let me feel that there were so many people cares about me at that moment. And I cannot forget the loud man's voice, very good listening, very very amazing.”

Surgery Avoided for Ovarian Problem

A woman in our congregation had been diagnosed as having an ovarian problem and told that she would need surgery to resolve it. At Harvest Church the next Sunday morning she went forward for prayer. When Pastor Jon laid hands on her and prayed for her she felt a great warmth in her lower abdomen and knew that the Lord was healing her. When she went back to her doctor for follow-up she announced that she was healed. When the doctor examined her he had to agree that she was indeed healed and did not need surgery. Shout “Hallelujah!!”.

A teenage boy in the congregation was wide-eyed and asked if the evangelist was pulling the leg out. She said “No, God is lengthening the leg.” The young man was very impressed and having had a sports injury to his elbow so that he had not been able to fully extend (straighten) that arm for some time, he jumped up and got in the prayer line. When our evangelist prayed over his arm, he fell under the power of the Holy Spirit. When he awoke he had a full range of motion in his elbow without pain. There was no longer a limitation on how far he could straighten or extend the elbow.

That same evening a woman who had had a spinal curvature since adolescence with resultant frequent back problems received prayer for her backache. She fell under the power of the Holy Spirit and afterward her back was straight and her pain was gone.

One particular woman had a lot of pain in her jaw and sinus area when she came to the November, 1996 Revival. She attributed this pain to her teeth because she had many cavities in her teeth and had been in very poor dental health for years. She lacked the money to go to a dentist. She later stated that she had never smiled much because she was so embarrassed about the terrible condition of her teeth. She came forward for prayer for healing. Pastor Jon Callahan laid hands on her and prayed asking the Lord to relieve her pain, heal any infection and to fill her cavities with gold and silver. She fell under the power of the Holy Spirit and when she awoke, her pain was entirely gone. However, she still had the cavities. That was on Tuesday, the 19th of November. In the early morning hours of Sunday, the 24th of November, she was preparing to brush her teeth before going to bed. When she looked into the mirror preparing to brush her teeth she saw that all of her cavities had silver and gold fillings in them. Of course, she rejoiced exceedingly and gave her testimony in church that morning. The woman, as noted above, had not been to a dentist for some time because she couldn’t afford to go. A dental check-up was arranged and the dentist confirmed that there were no cavities present. She’s smiling all the time now. Somebody shout “Praise the Lord!!”

Another young woman testified that she had not laughed in several years until she was seized by the “holy laughter” while at Harvest Church one Sunday evening and was unable to get off the floor for 20 or 30 minutes because she was laughing so hard she couldn’t stand up. She was still experiencing paroxysms of laughter when she left the church about an hour later. She said that it was the first time that she had really laughed in 6 years and that during those 6 years she had mainly cried a lot. That night she was filled with the joy of the Lord and changed forever. Since then she has no problem laughing. Her life has been changed forever. Incidentally, for those who think that “holy laughter” is something new and not “of God”, John Wesley (the founder of the Methodist Church) recorded in volume 1 of his “Works” about an occasion when he and his brother Charles went for a walk in a meadow planning to praise God with musical psalms. First Charles, and then John, broke into loud and uncontrollable laughter. In his writings he says of this occasion “Nor could we possibly refrain, though we were ready to tear ourselves in pieces, but we were forced to go home without singing another line.”

The River of Living Water continues to flow at Harvest Church. The anointing on Pastor Jon continues to increase steadily and the manifestations of the Holy Spirit continue to come. In many services, the presence of the Holy Spirit is so strong that Pastor Jon, Pastor Debbie and the Worship team have difficulty staying upright on their feet. Pastor Jon lets the Holy Spirit guide the course of the service as He wills. Sometimes He leads Pastor Jon to preach before worship; other times He leads him to lay hands on people and pray for them before either worship or preaching.

On one occasion a young woman from China was asked by a student from Taiwan whether she wanted to go forward during altar call and give her life to the Lord. People were being prayed over and falling under the power of the Holy Spirit. She told the young woman from Taiwan, “I want to see if that’s real and feel the power of God — if it’s real, then I can believe.” Sound like Thomas?. When Pastor Jon laid his hand on her forehead and began praying for her, she went down like a rock. She was “out” for about 10 minutes. When she “awoke”, she said that she knew now that God was real and prayed to receive Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
