Warri is a coastal city rich in oil. It is however steeped in conflict as tribal warfare has torn at the city for several years now. The turmoil had reached a boiling point just prior to the convention as hundreds of homes and businesses were burned to the ground. All of the carnage happened all around the church. The church was the only building left untouched by grenades and fire after the outbreak of violence that shook the city just before Jon and Debbie arrived. What an awesome miracle the Lord had wrought in the middle of massive devastation. In spite of all the trials, the Lord blessed immensely. Dr. Okah and his ministry team were able to move the location of the convention to the Estate of Chief Mosheshe about fifteen minutes from the church site. Chief Mosheshe had been a long time friend of Bishop Okah and although he had just passed away, his family opened the doors to their facilities to brother Okah even though they were in the midst of funeral preparations for this recently passed successful businessman and minister of the gospel. Due to the curfews and crisis, the meetings were held in the daytime hours, three meetings a day, and the power of God was ever present and strong. People had come in from the villages and pressed through difficult circumstances to be a part of the great convention and ministry time. Men and women were saved by the love and mercy of God Almighty, business men and women were encouraged and prayed for and the ministers graduating from the Bible College were challenged to go into all the world with the strength and integrity of the Lord. | |||||||||||||
